SFJAZZ serves thousands of adults and youth in communities across the Bay Area with a dynamic and innovative array of educational programs in the concert hall, classroom, and community.

The mission of SFJAZZ Education is to reach, develop and nurture current and future musicians and audiences by providing rich, innovative, interactive and informative programming in jazz appreciation, creation and performance within our diverse communities.

SFJAZZ Education offers two exciting jazz performance programs for intermediate to advanced players. Whether you are an aspiring professional, a current high school student, a business professional with an urge to keep music in your after-work life, or are simply looking to play in a hip community setting, we invite you to audition and be a part of our critically-acclaimed ensembles!

These affordably priced family-friendly concerts are a great way for you to pass your love of jazz onto the next generation. Bring the kids, the grandkids, and the neighbor’s kids to the gorgeous new SFJAZZ center for an engaging, entertaining and interactive musical experience.

The SFJAZZ Digital Lab offers an array of instruction in digital music production, including theory and musicianship, MIDI basics, notation skills, sequencing and audio recording as well as basic introduction to the digital workstation environment. Our intimate Digital Lab space is ideally suited to providing small-group instruction with top-notch faculty in a state-of-the-art environment.

SFJAZZ brings world-class jazz artists out of the concert hall and into the community, connecting youth and adults, students and professionals, musicians and non-musicians, with a diverse array of interactive workshops.

Jazz in the Middle and Jazz in Session programs serve over 700 students and create over 300 work opportunities for local musicians and poets throughout the school year.
